1) Don’t get an intense beauty treatment (especially one you’ve never had done before)
To some this might seem obvious, but beauty treatments can be risky. Get facials and waxing done days in advance to avoid bad reactions on your special day. Massages should also be done a couple days in advance to make sure your body isn’t sore for the long day that will be your wedding. Get your nails done the day before your wedding to save time for hair and makeup the day of!
2) Don’t wear new shoes that you haven’t broken in
Again, pretty obvious to anyone who’s worn new shoes. Do NOT wait until your wedding day (or the days leading up to it) to get used to your wedding shoes. You’re going to be wearing these for at least a couple hours so make sure you’re comfortable in them. Not only do you need to be comfortable standing in them but you also need to be comfortable walking in them. If you’re clumsy or just want to save some money, wear flats or forget shoes altogether.
3) Don’t write your vows last minute
Some people wait until the last minute to write a paper in high school or college because they “work better under pressure”. If you’re one of those people, don’t do that to yourself or your significant other in this situation. Take the time to write exactly what you want to say and make sure you’re satisfied way before you actually say them.
4) Don’t be on your phone
Soak in this day as much as possible! The best way to do this is to turn your phone off or at least turn the notifications off. Today is about you, if you don’t absolutely need to reply to someone around the time of your wedding then don’t. Don’t worry about capturing these moments with your phone, that’s what you hire other people to do. Just live today.
5) Don’t overthink or worry about everything
Just breathe. You have a great group of individuals to help you with your wedding day. Make your wedding day timeline ahead of time and share it so everyone knows where to be and when. There’s nothing left to do but go with the flow and have fun. You got this!
6) Don’t forget to eat
You NEED to eat to stay fueled for today. Not only will you be more energized and happier, but you’ll be able to indulge in those getting-ready cocktails as well. Eat, eat, eat.
7) Don’t drink too much beforehand
I know you’re nervous, but drinking too much before your wedding is the last thing you want to do! Being in a (mostly) sober mind set is the best thing for today. Trust me, you’ll have your time in a couple hours.
